Extracardiac adult rhabdomyoma (AR) is a benign soft tissue neoplasm showing skeletal muscle differentiation. Majority of ARs arise in the head and neck region. It rarely presents as a thyroid nodule. We present a case of a 72 year old female with a left thyroid mass that showed Hurtle cells on fine needle aspiration biopsy. Subsequent histopathology report on the left hemithyroidectomy confirms AR. AR that occurs in the thyroid is extremely rare with a few case studies describing imaging (1) and FNA characteristics (2). In our poster, we present the first Australian case of AR that arises from skeletal muscles around the thyroid and the oldest person in the literature.
