Mia is an MD/PhD candidate at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. She is currently undertaking her PhD research at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where she is using bioinformatics to explore new mechanisms for the diagnosis and treatment of severe genetic disorders. Mia has been working as a genomic pathology student intern at Invitae Australia since January 2023, where she has developed a passion for safety and quality within the laboratory. She has also found a deep interest in reproductive genetic carrier screening, and has enjoyed collaborating on various research projects related to optimising carrier screening gene panels for cost and clinical utility.
