I have a Master of Science in Biochemistry (first class honours) and I’m registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with NZIMLS. I’m employed at Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) as a Scientific Officer in the Specialist Chemistry department. I have worked at CHL for the past 6 years, with a year of absence while on parental leave. I predominantly provide expertise and oversight for the analysis of blood proteins by time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry. This testing repertoire currently includes haemoglobin (haemoglobinopathy/thalassaemia), fibrinogen (hypo/dysfibrinogenaemia), transferrin (N-linked CDG), albumin (glycated albumin and albumin variants), apolipoproteins (O-linked CDG) and immunoglobulins (tMAbs) among others and is expanding.
