Professional Bio
Dr. John Soltys is a clinician-scientist in the field of autoimmune neurology with particular expertise in antibody-mediated central neurological disorders. He completed his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Colorado at Anschutz medical campus, a neurology residency at the University of South Alabama, and a clinical and research fellowship in autoimmune neurology at both the University of Oxford and Mayo Clinic. An early focus on dissecting the structure and function of neurological autoantibodies paved the research path forwards to more broadly dissect at the molecular level the multifactorial origins of antibody-mediated autoimmune encephalitis with emphasis on the roles for B cells and the complement system in CASPR2-Ab, LGI1-Ab, and AQP4-Ab disease. His early work was completed under the prestigious Eugene and Marcia Applebaum Fellowship award at Mayo Clinic, and he is directing the creation of an Autoimmune Neurology Center after joining faculty at the University of South Alabama.
