Dr Irene Low graduated from the University of Otago in 1999 and completed her Anatomical Pathology training in Auckland. She was granted FRCPA in 2006 and commenced her first consultant post at Middlemore Hospital. Between 2008 and 2013, she travelled widely and practiced pathology in a variety of laboratories in the UK, USA, Ghana and Western Australia. Since her return to New Zealand in 2014, she has been working full-time at Middlemore Hospital. Her main areas of interest are in bone and soft tissue pathology, and cytopathology.  She has been an examiner for the RCPA since 2015. She is an active participant in the Northern Regional Sarcoma MDM and undertakes central pathology review of sarcoma cases.
