Dr Pisani is the Head of Department, Forensic Medical Unit, Western Sydney Local Health District and Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, NSW. Senior Staff Specialist, Emergency Department Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospitals, Sydney. Senior Visiting Medical Officer, Emergency Department, Auburn and Ryde Hospitals, Sydney. 
He splits his time between the fields of clinical forensic medicine and emergency medicine, each offering different ways of caring and advocating for victims of interpersonal violence. He is actively involved in teaching clinical forensic issues to other medical practitioners and to others at the intersection of the law and medicine.
He has a special interest in the harms caused by strangulation and has authored and contributed to various guidelines, including with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA).
