Professional Bio
Ainsley Newson is Professor of Bioethics at Sydney Health Ethics, University of Sydney. She has worked in the field of bioethics for over 25 years. Ainsley’s research critically considers ethical issues in genomics and human reproduction, specifically how these technologies can be used well across research, clinical and population health settings. Her current projects are addressing reproductive autonomy in light of expanded genomic testing, ethical governance of genomic data, and ethical issues in genomic newborn screening. Her work has led to over 160 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and commentaries. Ainsley is a Board member of the International Association of Bioethics, and a member of Australia’s Gene Technology Ethics and Community Consultation Committee and the National Steering Committee for Australian Genomics.
